Getting your pharmacy tech certification requires some training and for you to pass one of two exams, the ExCPT or the PTCB, both of which are nationally recognized by pharmacists and by states who require that pharmacy technicians have their certifications before they can become a technician. In addition to what you will see on the exam, training courses will also training you on how to manage inventory in a pharmacy, how to use pharmaceutical type programs for managing prescriptions, medical billing as well as pharmacy administration. While these subjects will not come up on your Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam, they are a very important part of understanding how to be a pharmacy tech and will be valuable for real world applications.
The only qualifications required to take the pharmacy technician exam is that you have a high school diploma or GED and that you are over eighteen years of age.
